Record Numbers Register for Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival
Before the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival began it was being advertised as Full Tilt Poker’s most significant investment in a Canadian poker tournament. The festival definitely didn’t disappoint, after the opening entry days of the event the Playground Poker Club confirmed that a record number of players entered the event.A total of 1,625 players paid the $1,100 buy-in for the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival, a massive increase on the previous record of 1,173. The vast amount of players also increased the prize pot, Full Tilt had guaranteed $1 million for the pot, but thanks to the number of entrants it increased to over $1.5 million.
Organisers are saying that the success of the tournament shows that Canada is host to a number of successful poker players. This year Canadian players enjoyed unprecedented success at the WSOP and a number of big names such as Jonathan Duhamel and Marc-Etienne McLaughlin have entered the Full Tilt festival.
A spokesman for the Canadian branch of Full Tilt Poker, Geoff Fardy, said “Breaking the Canadian record is a great indication of the quality of the tournament and Canadian’s love of live poker.”
