Lecture Series to Focus on Atlantic City’s Art
As the city’s chief photographer and a constant presence at events around town Al Gold was definitely known in Atlantic City. Now, a few decades after his death, his daughter is hoping to make him a local tradition.
Vicki Gold Levi has scheduled the second annual Al Gold Memorial Lecture which will be taking place at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s Campus Center Theater.
Levi said that she expects to cover a wide range of topics in the free series; she said “It has to be in the field of art, but that can be interpreted loosely.”
This year’s featured speaker is Lance Fung, the curator of the Atlantic art-parks project in Atlantic City.
However, before the introduction of Fung, Levi wants to do a presentation about her dad who shot the first Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in 1921.
She said, “I start the program off with a small slide show of my dad’s work. I’m not doing this just because he’s my dad, but because he’s an extraordinary photographer. I kind of know what a good picture is – and he took a good picture.”
