33 Arrested for Online Gambling in Mumbai

Earlier this week six gambling parlours were raided in Mumbai and 33 people were arrested over online gambling.

The Samta Nagar police in Kandivli raided the properties of Planet G Inernet Online Game and Bingo in Goregaon and Kandivli and Pratik Game Zone in Malad. The centres are all the franchisee centres of Game King Pvt Ltd.

The director and owner of Game King, Ramesh Chaurasia and KL Mansukhani have not yet been arrested, however, twelve centre owners and 21 players were. The centres had been running for over two years, the Commissioner of Police for the North Region, Sunil Paraskar , said “There are at least 300 more such centres running in the city under the franchise of Game King.”

Paraskar went on to say that the police are “looking for the main server from where these games had been activated. We will take Cyber Crime department’s help to trace it.”

The senior inspector of Samta Nagar, Pravin More, said, “The players arrested are from middle-class backgrounds in the age group of 30 to 40. But bigger names can crop up once we start busting other centres and get customer data.”
