Greece Blacklists 401 Online Gambling Sites

The Commission for the Supervision and Control of Games (CSCG) in Greece has published a blacklist of 401 online gambling sites that will be forbidden from operating within the county.
The list is being sent to Greek internet service providers who will be told to block access to the sites. It will also be sent to the Bank of Greece in order to stop fund being transferred to and from the sites.
The blacklist has a mix of casino, poker and sports betting sites however, the majority of sites seem to be casino sites. Well-known names on the list include Bwin, PartyPoker, PokerHeaven and 888 Poker. However, there are some notable exceptions to the list including Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars.
The government in Greece gives preference to the Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics, or OPAP, which holds a land-based monopoly on gambling. Until the year 2020 OPAP is the only provider which is allowed to offer online sports betting, poker cash games, and many casino games.
This monopoly has been ruled illegal by the Court of Justice of the EU, however, while the EC initially prohibited the Greek laws, it lifted the block earlier this year allowing for them to come into effect.
