Las Vegas Sands to Build EuroVegas in Madrid
It has been reported that developers have outlined proposals for a new gambling resort in Madrid which is being referred to as “EuroVegas”. Las Vegas Sands Corp has published its plans to target Madrid for a new development which could become Europe’s biggest casino and conference centre.
The company chairman, Sheldon Adelson, outlined the plans at the Jerusalem International Tourism Summit where he was being awarded in recognition of his contributions to the travel industry.
Adelson said that Madrid is the “convention centre of the world” and described how he wanted to add a touch of Las Vegas to the city. The plan could see a huge increase in the number of tourists and businessmen attracted to the city.
Adelson has already raised £8.3 billion of funding for the project. It will be used to turn a three square-mile site into a hub containing twelve 3,000 room properties and 2,400 meeting facilities as well as six casinos, a convention centre, three golf courses, shopping malls, bars and restaurants.
If everything goes according to plan the first resort and casino should be ready to open its doors to the public by 2017.
