Horseshoe Casino Opens in Ohio

The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati has opened in Ohio and thousands flocked there to try their luck.

Costing over $450 million to build, the Horseshoe Casino is expected to generate millions in gambling revenue every year
Around 5,000 people turned up to the opening event which began with a spectacular 20 minute fireworks display.
The casino includes a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant which is tropical themed and has space for 400 customers.
It features live music, signature margaritas and speciality dishes such as jerk salmon. The restaurant is decorated with fake palm trees, a tin-roof bar and wall painted to depict blue skies.
The casino cost more than $450 million to build and was authorised by Ohio voters in 2009 along with a further three casinos in Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo. The Columbus casino opened last October and the other two in May.
The Horseshoe Casino employs 1,700 people and it is expected to generate $300 million in revenue. A third of the revenue will go to Ohio taxpayers thanks to the state’s 33% gambling tax.
The casino takes up 400,000 square foot and includes 2,000 slot machines, 87 gambling tables and a 31 table World Series of Poker room. There are also six restaurants, aside from Margaritaville there is also a Bobby’s Burger Place, Jack Binion’s Steak, the Spread Buffet, Café Italia and Starbucks Coffee.
