World’s Biggest Cruise Ship with Huge Casino to Be Built in France
The STX Europe shipyard at Saint Nazaire in France has signed a deal with Royal Caribbean Cruises to build the world’s largest cruise ship.
The ship, which will be completed in mid-2016, will be the third of the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class vessels. There is also a chance that a second cruise ship will be built at the same yard as the deal with Royal Caribbean has an option to deliver another ship in 2018 at the same price.
The ship is expected to continue Royal Caribbean’s tradition of elegant and huge casinos. The casino will have one large hall for slot games connecting to smaller rooms with table games.
Once the ship leaves US territorial waters, the casino opens and gamers can play.
The ship is set to be 361 metres long with a beam of 66 metres and 72 metres high above the waterline. It will join its sister ships Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas as the pride of Royal Caribbean’s fleet.
The ships span 16 decks and each has a displacement of around 100,000 metric tons, just under an American Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. They each have a capacity of 5,400 passengers in 2,700 staterooms.
This is the first time that Royal Caribbean has used the French shipyard; the previous ships were constructed at another major STX shipyard in Turku, Finland.
Gambling fans should definitely be excited; the ship is likely to have an enormous casino.
