Turkey – The Alternative Holiday Destination
As the summer draws to an end some people may be looking for once more last minute holiday. However, many of the traditional cheap holiday destinations are no longer possible thanks to the European economic crisis.
As a result some people are looking further afield; one particularly popular destination is Ephesus in Turkey. Ephasus is an incredible Roman site, full of colonnaded streets, a huge theatre, the remains of Roman shops and houses and a wonderful atmosphere. Ephasus is conveniently located close to Kusadasi which means it is easy to combine time spent roaming the Roman streets with relaxation by the sea.
Another possibility is Kas on the Mediterranean coast. It is ideally located for water sports and is just a short drive away from the Lycian Mountains where holiday-goers can enjoy canyoning, trekking, rock-climbing and mountain-biking. There is also a lively nightlife full of clubs and bars which stay open all night long.
Or why not head to Turkey’s Taurus Mountains, they are quite, unspoilt and provide a wonderful sense of isolation. The village of Gökçeovac?k is surrounded by amazing forests, olive groves and fields of herbs.
Whatever kind of holiday you’re looking for it seems you’re sure to find it in Turkey.
