British Couple Win £148.6 Million EuroMillions jackpot

A music shop owner and his wife, a healthcare assistant, were the lucky winners of the £148.6m EuroMillions jackpot earlier this month. The couple from Haverhill in Suffolk are now the UK’s second biggest lottery winners.
Adrian and Gillian Bayford learnt of the news while watching the Friday evening news. Adrian said that he was checking the numbers as his wife tried to settle their son who had woken up and was crying. As he rushed to tell his wife she apparently was telling him “to keep the noise down.”

A couple from Haverhill have become Britain’s second biggest lottery winners after winning the EuroMillions jackpot.

They then spent the night informing family members of the win and searching the internet deciding how to spend the money. Gillian has decided to give up her job working nights at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge and wants a new family home and an Audi Q7. Adrian intends to keep his music shop open and would like the visit the Canadian Rockies by train. The children are hoping for a trip to Disney World.
This is the second biggest lottery win in Britain behind Colin and Christine Weir from Largs in north Ayrshire. They won £161 million last year in July.
The couple also said that they want to share the win with family and friends. Gillian said that the children’s charities are close to their hearts so they will be looking how they can “use this money to help those charities.”
Adrian has said that he would use some of the money to expand his business. On the Monday after winning there was a sign in the window of Adrian’s shop saying that it would be closed for the day but would re-open the next day.
Despite their massive win they insisted that they would continue to live like “a normal family”. Gillian says that they are “quite grounded” and would think carefully before moving home.
