Online Casino Lands Tottenham Sponsorship Deal
Following a high profile spat with Manchester United, online casino group Mansion have announced the signing of a new sponsorship deal with English premier football club Tottenham Hotspur. Under the auspices of the deal, the online casino operator will play 34 million pounds sterling over the next four years to advertise its online casino services on the club’s shirts.
The deal is one of the most lucrative ever in the Barclays Premiership and about four times more than Tottenham earned from their previous sponsor, though the club have had to offer significantly more exposure to the Gibraltar-based betting and online casino company. The online casino group is also paying approximately five million pounds more than the sum offered by LG, one of its bidding rivals. David Kinsman, the online casino firm’s chief operating officer, described the deal as “extremely good value.”
However, some Tottenham fans are questioning whether Mansion just wanted to be involved in football and not necessarily with their club. The online casino firm was reportedly close to signing an agreement with Manchester United and then considered sponsoring Newcastle United. The firm reacted angrily when it learnt Manchester had reached agreement with another company. Later, the football club admitted that they had decided against Mansion due to discomfort with being linked with a gambling company.
