Tensions Mount over Vice Presidential Debate
This week’s vice presidential debate has taken on unexpected importance following Obama’s poor performance in the first presidential debate last week.
Vice President Biden will be debating with Rep. Paul Ryan this Thursday evening and it is sure to be an extremely intense clash. It has been reported that in preparation Biden has been watching videos of Ryan’s past speeches and interviews as he readies his strategy.
Biden has had a total of three mock debates and will have a number of rehearsals before the actual debate. Biden will be joined by Rep. Chris Van Hellen, David Axelrod, Mike Donilon , Ted Kaufman and Ron Klain.
According to Kaufman Biden is “really focused and he’s working really hard.”
There is extra pressure on Biden due to his history of veering off script in public and often causing embarrassment when doing so.
In the past Biden has made a joke at the expense of Chief Justice John Roberts, insulted an ethnically mixed audience and forced Obama’s hand on the issue of same sex marriage.
However, Obama is now relying on him to come through and make up for his performance last week. Whatever happens, it’s sure to be a thrilling debate.
