Mystery State Lottery Winner to be Unveiled
It has been announced that there was just one winner for the third-largest Powerball jackpot ever sold in Lapeer, Michigan. However, the winner’s identity is not yet known.
According to City Manager, Dale Kerbyson, while they’ve have state lottery winners in the past, “this is a whole different thing, this would be enough money to buy Lapeer.” The winning ticket was sold at a local gas station and one lucky person will be collecting $337 million.
Lapeer has a population of just 8,800, so there is a lot of speculation amongst the town over which of their neighbors holds the ticket. Initially it took a little time for the winner to come forward, however, Michigan Lottery officials have now planned to introduce the winner at a special news conference this Friday.
The jackpot is also going to have a positive impact for the town as a whole. The city will take $2 million in tax revenue assuming that the winner is a resident of Lapeer. Kerbyson said that the city would probably use the money to finance an expensive road project.
Kerbyson noted that the win has caused “fantastic camaraderie in the city … and this news has almost pulled the city together in a way.”
