Under state law, entertainment establishments are are allowed a maximum of three video gambling machines. The law also forbids operators from awarding winners with cash payouts.
The illegal gambling raid on Funtime Amusements Inc occurred in the early hours of Friday morning. Police entered the establishment and seized video gambling machines, ATM machines and boxes of cash. Neighbors of the entertainment establishment said that they were shocked at accusations against the business, saying that they never expected any type of wrong – doing, especially illegal gambling dealings.
The police have reported that following this raid, further illegal gambling enterprises have been located and that they will continue with their crackdown. They admitted that this gambling ring was just the tip of the iceberg, and there was much more that needed to be done in order to eradicate this phenomenon. They plan to raid dozens of more business from which they believe illegal dealings are occurring. In the mean time, however, no charges have been filed against the owners of Funtime Amusements.
