My iPad Mini is Smaller Than Yours
Small is the new big. Apple released the iPad Mini yesterday to much fanfare from gadget freaks to Wall Street.
The new Apple tablet is lighter and smaller than ever. It weighs 306 grams – compare that to over 600 grams for the iPad and iPad 2!
While the iPad has a 9.7 inch screen, the iPad Mini is 7.9 inches wide.
Best of all, the screen resolution stays the same – 1024 x 768 – so all of your apps will look and run the same.
As Apple showed in their presentation yesterday, you can hold the iPad mini in one hand. You’d have to be a weightlifter or NFL defensive linebacker to hold a regular sized tablet in one hand.
The iPad Mini uses the same processor as the iPad – a dual-core A5 chip. The camera is 5 megapixels with HD recording.
The price? $329 for the 16GB version. 32GB will retail for $429 and 64GB will set you back $529.
Not that this is new, but no one likes the price. For Apple, $329 is the equivalent to a “dollar store item”. Wall Street analysts and gadget lovers have commented on the expensive price.
The iPad Mini is not a low range tablet. If you’re considering a Kindle, you can’t compare $100 to $329. Therefore, the iPad Mini is a mid-range tablet.
Will it sell? You can bet on that! We should all look forward to an interesting Christmas shopping season.
