According to one analyst the next iPad could feature a 16:9 widescreen display.
Analyst Paul Mueller says that he has spoken “to at least three people close to Apple who say that there are new iPad prototypes that have a 16:9 aspect ratio, they aren’t talking about the upcoming iPad Mini either.” The new iPhone 5 does feature a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is commonly used for widescreen HD TVs.
Another report suggests that it could be a flexible display with built-in speakers.
It has been discovered that Apple filed a new patent for a flexible display with integrated speakers in order to provide surround sound patent, the patent also said that the displays could be convex or concave.
A Japanese blog, Macotakara, has also claimed that Apple is ordering a number of carbon fibre parts which could suggest that the next iPad will have a number of components made from it.
A few years ago AppleInsider found an Apple patent which described how carbon fibre can be used to make the iPad stronger and lighter.
