Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 Set to Cost $799

The new Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 will run Windows 8 Professional and cost $799.
The price will include a keyboard but it is in-line with Microsoft’s claim that Windows 8 Pro tablets will cost roughly the same as Ultrabooks.
The ThinkPad Tablet 2 comes with a 10.1” IPS display with a resolution of 1,366×768 as well as a full version of Office 2013, an Intel Atom Clover Trail 1.8GHz processor and 2GB of RAM.
There is also the option of a dock which provides an Ethernet port, three USB ports as well as a HDMI output.
Inbuilt into the device are 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras, there is an LED flashlight as well as stereo speakers, a dual microphone , a fingerprint reader, a microSD slot for expansion and much more.
Obviously the tablet offers a level of mobility which you don’t get even with an ultra-thin laptop. However, the price still seems shockingly high despite being cheaper than Microsoft’s own Surface Pro tablet which costs $799 but with an additional $199 for a keyboard.
Overall it looks to be an impressive piece of hardware, but it remains to be seen if people will be willing to pay that much for a tablet.
