HP Announce New Range of Laptops

Hewlett-Packard has announced a new line of touch-screen laptops which will run Windows 8 software and one model which can be converted into a tablet.

The new range include the Spectre TouchSmart Ultrabook with a 15.6” HD screen as well as the Envy x2 which has a detachable touch screen on a magnetic hinge.
HP has been rushing to come up with innovative designs to persuade consumers to buy Windows 8 machines rather than Apple products.
Windows 8 is due to be released next month and features a new user interface which makes it more suitable for tablet computers. The new software also includes new touchscreen features for traditional PCs.
The Spectre TouchSmart Ultrabook will be released in the US in December with a starting price of $1,400.
The Envy x2 will be released as well and will cost between $800 and $900, it has a detachable screen which becomes a tablet computer weighing just 1.5 pounds.
A third machine, the Envy TouchSmart Ultrabook which has a 14” touchscreen HD display and will ship in time for the holiday season.
Ultrabooks are new class of extra thin laptops which meet Intel’s performance and battery-life requirements. All the new HP machines run on Intel chips.
