The Usain Bolt Mobile Game Will Cure Your Olympics Blues

Are you feeling withdrawal symptoms since the Olympics ended? Do you miss waking up in the morning and checking out the Olympic medals table? Wish you could see Usain Bolt in action every day of the week?

Meet “Bolt!”, Usain Bolt’s new video game, available on iPhone, iPod Touch and soon iPad. In the game, the Jamaican superstar sprinter is on the run from Caribbean pirates who are after his gold. The game’s current version (August 2) takes up 20.8 MB and was developed by Rock Live, Inc. According to iTunes, Bolt! is rated “12+” thanks to frequent profanity or crude humor and intense cartoon violence. One can almost hear Butthead exclaim, “Whoa, that’s cool”.

And indeed, Bolt! must be cool. Otherwise, how would one explain the download rate of one game per second? The game broke the 1 million download mark on the day that Bolt, Yohan Blake and the rest of the Jamaican relay team won their gold medal. The free game is among the top 3 most popular apps in 25 countries at the App Store.

Bolt told Mashable that he was involved in creating the game. “I stayed involved during the whole process and was beta testing the game for a few months before it launched,” he said.
