ESPN ScoreCenter App Review

With over 10,000,000 downloads and monthly updates, ESPN ScoreCenter is one of the most popular mobile apps you’ll ever see. If you’re even a casual fan of sports, you’re going to want this. While we think there’s a lot more ESPN can add to this app, we applaud this informative and easy to use mobile app.

If you’re even a casual fan of sports, you’re going to want this. While we think there’s a lot more ESPN can add to this app, we applaud this informative and easy to use mobile app.

When you load ESPN ScoreCenter for the first time, you click the “+” (plus) and are taken to a menu with a list of sports. You can choose from baseball, basketball, cricket, football, ice hockey, rugby, soccer and X Games. We started with football. The next menu lists the NFL and NCAAF. Being from Miami, our editor started with the Miami Dolphins. Say what you want about the ‘Fins, but no one can beat the 1972 undefeated season – even if the players from that year are grandparents today!

Next we went with NCAA football. The next menu has you choose your favourite team’s division. We didn’t know our team’s division, but a quick look on Wikipedia told us that the Miami Hurricanes are part of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Basketball was next on our list (Chicago Bulls) followed by baseball (Miami Marlins). We like tropical teams.

We finished adding our teams and the app took us to the main menu. There are two tabs – Scores and News. ESPN ScoreCenter lists the latest scores of all of our teams. We liked how basketball, baseball and football are all listed together. The same goes for news.

The best part of the ESPN ScoreCenter app? Most of us are new to the world of tablets and this was very easy to use. On the other hand, we’d like to see ESPN add more features (perhaps team and broadcast info). But we’re not worried, ESPN will keep updating this app and we’ll review a newer version in the months to come.
