The London 2012 Join In app is designed for the lucky millions who will be in London this summer – or those planning a “staycation” at home thanks to the wonderful economy around the world. When you load the app, you have a few options on top. The first is “All”. Clicking it lists all of the events for the current day. For the date of this review, July 8, there are events scheduled all day. The morning starts off with Yoko Ono at the Serpentine Gallery, followed by other arts, sports and cultural events.
Who knew that the London Olympics would have so many cultural events before and during the games?! The other interesting menu option is “Torch”. If you ever wanted to follow the torch relay, here’s your chance. Now we now that the Olympic Torch will go from Cambridge to Luton today. By clicking on Torch Day 51, a Google Map is displayed.
You can click on the past few days of the torch relay, view photos and videos and read more about the Olympic side events. If you ever thought the Olympics were just about sports, the London 2012 Join In app will show you otherwise. You’d have to be an Olympic “completest collector” to have use for this one unless you’re visiting London. We’re glad we tried it. Now we know that Yoko Ono is a part of the Olympics scene.
