Online Casino Poker Technology Honoured at Awards Ceremony

The 2005 Gambling Awards featured a new awards category this year following the success of online casino poker. The stakes were high for the “TV Program of the Year” award, with three online casino poker technology shows nominated for the honour. Despite stiff competition, the award was presented to online casino show “Poker Night Live.”

The program’s creator, Poker zone, won the technology award after collecting the highest number of votes from online casino players and fans. The show was up against ‘Ladbrokes Poker Million’ and the ‘World Heads Up Poker Championships’ but still managed to come up trumps. Poker zone’s Managing Director, Jim Sibcy, stated that the award reflected the popularity of the show’s new product and the demand by online casino technology fans for gaming shows that address the online gambling experience. ‘Poker Night Live’ was first televised in May 2005 and has since grown to reach an audience of over 200,000 online casino fans per week.

Similarly, in the UK television programs on online casino poker and gaming technology are proving popular. British broadcaster ITV’s decision to televise a celebrity poker match during prime time viewing last month gained thousands of interested viewers. Further programming on the online casino industry is scheduled to appear on Sky and cable television throughout the UK later in the year.
