Coral Could Lose £100 Million if McGregor Beats Mayweather

The boxing world is eagerly anticipating the upcoming fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather but bookmakers may be beginning to worry.

Bookmaker Coral has cut the odds on McGregor winning to 7/2 down from 9/2 after a flurry of betting. While Mayweather is still favourite at 1/5, if McGregor does win it will now cost Coral an astonishing £20 million in Britain and £100 million around the world. The pair will be meeting on August 26, it will be McGregor’s first professional fight and Mayweather’s first since 2015.

A Coral spokesman, John Hill, has said that the company is “amazed and worried about the intensity of this gamble”. They said that they are expecting the betting to break all records in boxing while the fight itself is expected to be the richest in boxing history.
