Betting Begins on Euro 2016

With the Euro 2016 tournament fast approaching the betting markets are heating up and fans are busy placing their bets.
Of course the main market is the Outright Winner market and at the majority of bookmakers the hosts, France, are the favourites to win. Most bookmakers have given France odds of 3/1 to win the competition while Germany isn’t too far behind with odds of 7/2 or 4/1. Spain is third favourite at 11/2 while England trail in fourth at 8/1.
Another popular market is the Top Goalscorer. At present Thomas Muller and Cristiano Ronaldo are pretty much joint favourites. Muller has scored 36 goals for Bayern Munich in all competitions this season while Ronaldo has scored 51 for Real Madrid. Both players have odds of 8/1 at most bookies but at some there are odds of 6/1 available.
France’s Antoine Griezmann is third favourite with odds ranging from 8/1 to 9/1 and he is followed by Harry Kane who has odds of around 14/1.
There are a number of favourites for who will claim the title of Player of the Tournament with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, France’s Paul Pogba and Germany’s Thomas Muller all joint favourites at around 12/1. Possibly because he is playing on home ground Paul Pogba is slight favourite at some bookmakers with Coral offering odds as low as 8/1 and Ladbrokes offering odds of 10/1.
In terms of the groups, France is favourite to win Group A at 4/11, England is favourite to win Group B at 11/13, Germany is favourite to win Group C at 2/5, Spain is favourite to win Group D at 7/10, Belgium is favourite to win Group E at 6/5 and Portugal is favourite to win Group F at 19/20.
