Betting on the Next Aston Villa Manager
It is widely expected that Aston Villa will be relegated at the end of the season, so much so that the odds at a number of bookmakers are as short as 1/100.
However, this hasn’t stopped the team from changing manager for the second time this season. Probably in order to give the incomer time to settle in before next season in the Championship.
In November Remi Garde took over from Tim Sherwood and lasted for just twenty games during which the team won twice, lost twelve games and collected just twelve points. However, many claim that this wasn’t really Garde’s fault as when he took over the team he wasn’t allowed to make a single alteration during the winter transfer window.
Now speculation is rife over who will be the next to take the job. The favourites at various bookmakers are Nigel Pearson and David Moyes with Moyes at 7/4 and Pearson at 3/1.
If Moyes was to take the job it would be quite a change for him since his last job was at Manchester United and he has previously achieved seven successive top-eight finishes at Everton.
Pearson on the other hand was Leicester City’s manager and he won the Championship with the team and will not require a fee due to his unemployment.
The next choice is Mick McCarthy at 7/1 closely followed by Steve Bruce at 8/1. McCarthy is the current manager at Ipswich Town and Steve Bruce is at Hull city. Another name that is coming up is Erick Black who at some bookmakers is as short as 6/1, he is a well-respected coach who has not had a top job since he was in charge at Coventry City in 2003-4.
