Betting Suspended on Australian Open Doubles Match

After last week’s tennis match fixing allegations betting site Pinnacle Sports suspended betting on a mixed doubles match after an unusually large amount of money was bet on it.

The money was bet on Czech Andrea Hlavackova and Poland’s Lukasz Kubot and betting was suspended 13 hours before the match was due to start. The pair went on to win the match against Lara Arruabarrena and David Marrero 6 – 0, 6 – 3. Both members of the losing team denied that there was any match fixing and Marrero said that he was suffering from a knee injury.

The amount bet on the match has not been published but a small number of people are thought to have bet a large sum of money which will always be considered suspicious, especially when it comes to fairly obscure events.
