Woman Loses Money After Posting Betting Slip on Facebook

Last week a woman learnt the hard way why it is a bad idea to post a winning betting ticket on social media.

Chantelle, from Perth, Australia, shared a selfie with her and her betting slip on Facebook after she won $825. However, when she went to collect the money she was shocked to find that it had already been claimed. She was unaware that the slip contained a barcode which could then be used at an automated machine to claim the cash.

She then returned to Facebook to berate the person that had stolen her winnings saying that they had ruined her day. However, the police have said that they are confident that they will be able to trace where the money was claimed and find the person responsible. Furthermore, she was also donated the money from her original bet so that she wasn’t out of pocket.
