Martin O’Neill Strong Favourite for Leicester Manager as Bookies Suspend Betting

Following a number of four figure bets, bookmakers have now suspended betting on Martin O’Neill replacing Nigel Pearson as Leicester City manager.
O’Neill was manager at Leicester City from 1995 – 2000 and under him they won the League Cup twice and were promoted to the Premier League. Pearson was sacked from the job at the end of June following the team’s post-season tour of Thailand and now O’Neill is favourite to take his job. His sacking came despite the fact that he managed to keep the club in the Premier League through an extraordinary end of season effort.
William Hill stopped accepting bets on Leicester’s next manager last Friday after punters drove the odds on O’Neill down from 10/1 to 1/4. However, there are still some bookmakers accepting bets with odds of 6/4 available on O’Neill at bookies such as Bet365.
