February’s Top Three Premier League Players

Another month of Premier League action draws to a close this weekend so it’s a good time to look back at the past four weeks to see which players have really impressed.

It is hard to compile a list like this without including Chelsea’s Eden Hazard. He has certainly grown more consistent in recent weeks and Chelsea has rewarded him with a new £200,000 a week contract. Statistically he is having an amazing season having created more chances than any other players, completed more dribbles, made the most key passes from open play, won possession in the final third the most times and he has 14 goals and assists to his name.

However, arguably this month David De Gea, Manchester United’s goalkeeper has been even more impressive. Over the past few weeks he has been responsible for keeping his team in with a chance of winning games and has tirelessly thrown himself at the huge number of shots he has had to deal with. Based upon his current form it wouldn’t be surprising if he managed to keep a clean sheet every week were it not for the slightly unreliable defence in front of him.

Nonetheless, the best player this month has to have been Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane. Kane was basically responsible for Spurs victory in the North London Derby; his header which put the team ahead was absolutely spectacular. Furthermore, he has scored five goals in his last three matches and has been looking unstoppable. In fact, the top scorers this year across the top five European Leagues are Kane and Lionel Messi with eight goals each. It is hardly surprising that rumours have sprung up claiming that Real Madrid is scouting Kane and while they do seem a little farfetched, stranger things have happened.
