Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Grows Ever More Likely
After almost six years of waiting and deliberations it seems that boxing fans are finally going to get the match they’ve always dreamt of, Manny Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather.
While no date has yet been set, it seems that the chance of it happening is becoming greater, especially since Pacquiao has agreed to undergo a drugs test, one of the key demands from Mayweather before he agrees to fight.
The fighters are often considered the best of their generation, Pacquiao is 57 – 5 with two draws and 38 knockouts while Mayweather is 47 – 0 with 26 knockouts. If the fight does happen it will go down as boxing’s biggest and most lucrative as the pair are reportedly agreeing to a $250 million deal.
The fight is also likely to draw a huge amount of bets, especially as it is rumoured to be taking place in Las Vegas where sports betting is allowed. Already a number of online bookmakers are accepting bets on the fight and the one thing clear across the board is that Mayweather is easily the favourite to win. For instance at Bet365 the odds on Mayweather are 1/3 while the odds on Pacquiao are 12/5, similarly at William Hill Mayweather is at 2/7 and Pacquiao is at 11/4.
Mayweather refers to himself as ‘TBE’, The Best Ever, and this fight will give him the chance to prove it. Already he is a five-division world champion, the winner of ten world titles and twice he has been named Ring Magazine ‘Fighter of the Year.
Pacquiao is the only boxer in history to win titles in eight different weight divisions, from flyweight to light-middleweight.
Furthermore, Mayweather hasn’t been tested in the ring for a few years and Pacquiao could just be the man to push him to the limit.
