Champions League Quarter-Final Draw Released With Final 16 Teams

With the top 16 teams in the Champions League ready to face off in the quarter-finals, we cover the draws you want to know about and offer insight into who may be the squad to come out on top of each match. Quarter-Finals begin February 17.

Juventus vs Borussia Dortmund

Juventus are a clear favourite for this match, but that shouldn’t lead fans to dismiss Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund took Juventus 3-1 in the 1997 finals match, when Borussia took home the title.

Schalke vs Real Madrid

This one is burying Schalke as the supreme underdog going up against the defending champs, Real Madrid, who are not likely breaking a sweat over this match up.

Paris Saint Germaine vs Chelsea

Chelsea will be hard-pressed to defend their impressive record at Stamford Bridge against PSG this 10th December. PSG appear to be the clear favourites as Chelsea are close to finishing this season without a trophy to show for their efforts.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico are touted as the favourite in this match against the Bundesliga’s third place finisher. Virile, tactical and hungry, the German squad will be fighting hard to contain Mario Mandžuki?, Antoine Griezmann, and Miguel Ángel Moyà until the final whistle during their match next week.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Bayern Munich

Bundesliga number one’s Bayern Munich have had little difficulty traversing the hardest group in the UEFA Chmapions League this competition. They’ll remain the favourites in this match against a team that no doubt has other concerns on their mind regarding the home front.

Manchester City vs Barcelona

Despite being last year’s Premier League champions, Man City will still have their work cut out for them against the Barcelona squad. Top-scorers Neymar, Messi and Suarez will be a tough to contain force on the field, we’ll see if Man City are up to task in this repeat of last year’s match between the two.

Arsenal vs Monaco

Arsene Wenger will face his former squad during the Champions League quarter finals as he heads with Arsenal to meet the team he coached from 1987-1994. Arsenal have made it to the quarter-finals the last four seasons, only to be knocked out before reaching the next round. Could they get 5th time lucky?

Basel vs Porto

Two teams on the fringe come together in the final draw matchup of the Champions League quarter-finals. Both are no doubt happy to have made it this far and to be matched with a comparable opponent. This match outcome will guarantee an underdog will make it deep into elimination.
