These teams haven’t played each other since October 2005 when Romania won 1 – 0. In August 2004 they played and Romania won 2 – 1. Before that they played in 1996 and the game ended in a 1 – 1 draw.

In September Romania beat Greece 1 – 0 but in June lost 2 – 1 to Algeria. However in May they beat Albania 1 – 0.
