Jordan Rossiter Scores in Debut Liverpool Game
Liverpool may have just scraped through their match against Middlesbrough after one of the most dramatic penalty shootouts in the history of the League Cup, but it was an excellent match for debutant Jordan Rossiter.
Rossiter signed his first contract as a professional football player last March and this week, at the age of 17, he played in his first match. Amazingly just 11 minutes into the match Rossiter scored his first goal for Liverpool, he knocked it home from 30 yards to put Liverpool in the lead.
Rossiter joined Liverpool’s youth system when he was just 6 years old and has been rising through the ranks ever since. After the game Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, praised Rossiter saying that he was “excellent, showed really good composure, his temperament was good and he followed up the finish really well”.
However, despite the fantastic display from Rossiter, the Reds have still had a shaky start to the season, losing 3 – 1 to West Ham last weekend. Their next match is against Everton which they are favourite to win with odds of 5/6 compared to Everton’s 18/5. However, they are fifth favourite to win the league with odds of 28/1 and third favourites to win the League Cup with odds of 13/2.
