Liverpool Prospects Hurt Following Daniel Sturridge Thigh Injury

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge was forced to withdraw from the England squad ahead of the opening Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland after injuring his thigh in training.

Sturridge limped out of the training session and was examined by the FA’s medical staff. A scan at a local hospital then ruled him out of the game in Basel. Sturridge is now back at Liverpool but it is feared that he will be out of action for the next two or three weeks.

If this proves correct it will rule him out of the upcoming Premier League game against Aston Villa and the opening Champions League game against Ludogorets. Liverpool is sure to feel his absence as one of the team’s strongest players and it is also likely to affect the odds on their upcoming games. Nonetheless, Liverpool is still firm favourites at the bookies to beat Aston Villa next weekend.

After the injury Sturridge took to Twitter and wrote, “Hopefully be back soon fighting fit for LFC. Nothing worse than being injured. My head’s gone.”
