Hamilton and Rosberg Neck and Neck as Formula 1 Summer Break Begins

Formula 1 has begun its summer break; it has been a thrilling season so far and there is surely much more to come.

Many of the headlines this season have been dominated by the battle between the two Mercedes team mates, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg came into the season as the underdog, he was always a bit slower than Hamilton and when Hamilton won in Bahrain in April it appeared as if he was going to run away with the season.

However, Rosberg has fought back, his speed has improved and it is now so close between them that in qualifying only 0.1 seconds per lap separates them on average pace. Rosberg is now driving with far more aggression and putting up an excellent fight.

On the other hand, were it not for his mechanical failures, it is highly likely that Hamilton would be leading the championship at this point. This is why Hamilton is still the favourite to win the Drivers’ Championship, but only just, most bookies are offering odds of around 4/5 on him while the odds on Rosberg are closer to 1/1.

The season resumes in Belgium on August 22nd, all eyes will be on Hamilton’s car but fans should definitely keep a close watch on Rosberg as he clearly isn’t going to give up.
