Liverpool vs. Manchester City Result Reveals Premier League Potential

After being narrowly beaten to the Premier League title by Manchester City, Liverpool made amends by defeating them in a pre-season friendly.

The rivalry and competition between these teams has in no way subsided. After an intense 90 minutes of play the game ended in a 2 – 2 draw and went to a penalty shootout. In the end Liverpool won 3 – 1 on penalties after City missed their first two attempts.

The teams were playing in the International Champions Cup, a friendly tournament featuring eight European clubs.

Liverpool will now go on to play Italy’s AC Milan and a win could see them reach the final in Miami.

City next faces Greek side Olympiakos.

With memories of their narrow defeat last season still fresh, Liverpool looked determined to make amends and show fans that they are ready for the upcoming season. A win in this tournament would certainly bolster spirits and hopes ahead of their first Premier League fixture against Southampton on 17 August.

The teams are set to meet again in the second week of the upcoming Premier League season, on August 25 and fans can be sure of an equally competitive match.
