Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games Are Underway with Day 1 Of Events

The 20th Commonwealth games have begun and day 1 will feature 12 sporting events with 20 gold medals waiting to be awarded.
The day will begin with bowls at Kelvingrove and feature a dozen matches from men’s triples to women’s fours.

The much anticipated commonwealth games are ready to commence, with such events as bowls and the 200m breaststroke taking place.
Shortly after ice hockey and Badminton would begin at Emirates Arena, which hosts the sports’ mixed team events.
Australia is ranked second in the world for field hockey and is favoured heavily to perform well in competition.
In all, the games will span 11 days, feature 17 sports with 4,500 competitors from 71 countries, and offer the recognition and respect that comes with the honour of 1st place gold to 261 victors.
The games will be covered by several media broadcasts 18 hours a day, including BBC Radio 5 live, BBC One, BBC Three, BBC Two, Tonight At The Games, and Sports News.
Some of the highest profile competitors include sprinter Usain Bolt and swimmer Michael Jamieson, who leads Scotland’s charge in the 200m breaststroke race for gold.
Netball, Gymnastics, Judo, Squash, and weightlifting will all feature in addition to the aforementioned events on day one of competition.
