Stipe Miocic vs Fabio Maldonado
The Finale lineup is confirmed for The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 and the heavyweight headliner will be a showdown between Fabio Maldonado and Stipe Miocic. The event takes place this Saturday at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Miocic was scheduled to fight former champion, Junior Dos Stantos which was expected to be an extremely interesting fight.
Dos Santos was forced this time to bow out due to a broken hand which resulted in UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado taking his place. Maldonado was unable to cut down to middleweight and this will be his first UFC fight on the heavyweights.
In the opposite side is Miocic who currently ranks in #7 and the only benefit he will get for a win against Maldonado, who is not even ranked in the top 15 in any division, is a paycheck as the win will do nothing for his rankings.
If, on the other hand, he loses, it will damage his rankings in a big way.
Maldonado is known to be super tough and possesses excellent boxing skills, plus he is on a three fight winning streak. Critics feel that Maldonado stands little chance against the weight and power of Miocic who will wear him out.
What do the bookies say? Well they put Stipe Miocic at 1/6 and Maldonado at 4/1. Let’s see what fight night brings.
