Can Liverpool Take the Premier League Title?
Liverpool virtually had it in the bag, but after letting their 3 goal lead against Crystal Palace last weekend slide to 3-3 draw, this team is just holding onto top spot on the tables with 81 points.
The Red’s stood to take home the cup for the first time since 1989 but now their chances rest more on the failure of others than their own skills.
Liverpool, while still at the top of the standings, are followed by Manchester City by just 1 point on 80 points and Chelsea following with 79.
The biggest issue for Liverpool right now is that Manchester City still has a game in hand over Liverpool which means they need only 4 points from two games in order to clinch the title.
In Sunday’s post-game interview, Brendan Rodgers admitted that he thinks Manchester City will go on to win their last two games which will dash all hopes for Liverpool.
Liverpool statistically still has a chance but it all rests on Manchester City falling apart and the odds of that happening at this stage are slim.
But it’s not over until the final whistle. Liverpool have their final game this Sunday against Newcastle which the bookies are putting at a 1/5 Liverpool win and a 12/1 Newcastle win.
