Highlanders vs Bulls Betting Preview

This weekend sees the Bulls take on the Highlanders in Dunedin and it seems that the Highlanders are strong favorites to win.

Frans Ludeke’s Bulls are currently suffering from major injury concerns. In last week’s match against the Hurricanes, not only did the team lose, but they also lost forwards Deon Stegman and Dewald Potgieter to injury. However, the fullback Jurgen Visser who suffered a foot injury and the flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter who suffered a quad contusion were both back in training this week.

The injuries partially explain the bookies’ odds on the upcoming games. Paddy Power has placed the Bulls at 9/5 to win while the Highlanders are miles ahead at 2/5. A draw is not considered an option with odds of 22/1.

However, the Highlanders are not without problems. The winger Kurt Baker is set to spend some time on the side-lines since he was cited after the game against the Rebels last weekend. Baker was cited for a clean-out at a ruck in the 11th minute of the match. A hearing will take place into the incident and if Baker pleads guilty he will get a minimum suspension of four weeks.
