Bellator 115 – Minakov vs. Kongo Betting Preview
This Friday (April 4th) at the Reno Events Center in Nevada Bellator 115 will take place featuring the heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov defending his title against Cheick Kongo.
The match will be Minakov’s toughest title defense by far. Last October Kongo made his Bellator debut and earned a second-round TKO, just once month later he made his second appearance and won via unanimous decision and is widely considered one of the best kick boxers in the heavyweight division.
However, despite Kongo’s prowess, the bookies still have Minakov as favorite to win. Odds on a Kongo victory are 15/8 at Paddy Power while Minakov is far ahead at 2/5.
Having said that Kongo does have three more knockouts on his record than Minakov. He was also a 21-2 world kickboxing champion with 12 knockouts before entering the UFC. Furthermore, in his matches, Kongo has displayed an amazing ability to recover quickly.
Kongo’s other major advantage is his experience. Kongo fought in the Octagon 18 times before moving to Bellator. Minakov, while an excellent fighter, will not have anything up his sleeve that Kongo hasn’t already seen.
Nonetheless, Minakov is a world-class wrestler and an excellent fighter so it seems that fans are in for a real treat this weekend.
