Manchester United Bets Are Refunded by Betfred
The owner of Betfred, Fred Done, has made it quite clear that he feels that Manchester United is robbing its fans.
As a result, Done has instructed all of his bookmaker outlets to refund all the bets that were placed on Manchester United taking the win in the Barclays Premier League.
In an interview with Manchester Evening News, Done said that the Reds have no chance of winning especially after United’s loss to Liverpool of 3-0 on the weekend.
While Man United are the reigning Premier League champions, this season they have failed to impress and are now currently in seventh place. They are also 18 points behind Chelsea who are the current leaders.
This move by Done will cost the British bookmakers Betfred over £200,000 and this is not the first time Done has done this. In fact, in 1998, he paid out on Man United winning the league. He did this because while Manchester United was 12 points ahead of Arsenal, the side led by Arsene Wenger erased the difference and only won the league by 1 point.
In 2012, Done also paid out early on bets that Manchester United would win the league and despite this, United did claim this title for the first time in 44 years. Both these payouts have cost Done over £500,000.
