Jean Pascal vs. Lucian Bute Fight Preview

Later this month, on January 18th, boxing fans will be able to enjoy the biggest fight in Canadian boxing history when Jean Pascal takes on Lucian Bute at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The two light heavyweights will be competing for the vacant WBC Diamond Title and 22,000 fans are expected to attend.
This 175-pound match has been delayed since May of last year resulting in a massive, tension filled build-up between two of boxing’s biggest rivals. The bookies have got Pascal as favorite to win with odds of 4/5 with Bute only slightly trailing at evens.
Pascal is certainly eager to win the match and seems full of confidence.
In a recent interview Pascal said “it’s going to be his [Bute’s] last fight and it’s good to cash in before his last fight, because I might retire Lucian Bute.”
Many are describing this as the biggest fight in Canadian history since 1980 when Roberto Duran beat Sugar Ray Leonard for the welterweight world title. Both Pascal and Bute are massively popular fighters in Canada and there is no doubt that they’ll put on a fantastic display.
