Betting on the Final Week of the NFL

The final week of the National Football League season is fast approaching, but in Las Vegas it has already begun. Early this week odds-makers at the Las Vegas NV Hotel SuperBook finished the betting lines for the last normal season games.

The SuperBook is always the first to post opening odds on NFL games; it helps to set the market in what has become a $6 bilion-a-week worldwide industry. The final week of the normal season is incredibly difficult for odds-makers to asses as there are numerous additional factors to consider such as late-season injuries and the motivation of teams out of playoff contention.
The Superbook’s VP of Race & Sports Operations Jay Kornegay said, “It’s kind of like a preseason week when you’re trying to figure out who’s going to play & how long they’re going to play for meaningless games & adjust it for motivation. There’s always going to be matchups of teams that need to win & teams just playing out the season.”

Of course the major benefit of being the first sportsbook to offer odds is that you get all the early action, however, you don’t have the opportunity to read the market so in many ways, the sportsbook itself is placing a huge bet.
