Holly Holm Scores Sixth Straight Victory at Route 66 Casino Hotel

On Friday night thanks to a vicious combination of kicks to the head, body and legs of Angela Hayes, Holly Holm scored a victory by unanimous decision in the three-round main event of an MMA card at the Route 66 Casino Hotel.
The win, in front of a near sell-out crowd of 2,300, extended Holm’s unbeaten record to 6 – 0.However, Hayes was the first MMA fighter to make Holms fight the full three rounds. She produced some fantastic fighting, especially in the third round when she went for a choke hold on the ground. However, Holm, the bigger and stronger of the two, defended well and finished the fight on top.
After the fight Holm said, “Hayes is a lot stronger in the clinch, a lot stronger in a lot of things than all my previous fights combined. Which is good, I want that.”
The win gives Holm the opportunity to take part in a five-round title fight, probably next March, in the Albuquerque area against a “Brazilian ground specialist” who has not yet been named.
The ultimate goal for Holm is a contract with the UFC and a chance to fight Ronda Rousey, the UFC’s bantamweight champion.
