Boxing fans are eagerly anticipating the vacant WBA junior middleweight match between Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout which is taking place this Saturday night.

Lara vs. Trout Boxing Match Preview

Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout are preparing to face each other for the vacant WBA junior middleweight title.

According to Ronnie Shields, Lara’s trainer, the winner of the match will have the chance to fight Canelo Alvarez, the Mexican who has been impressing boxing fans over recent months. Floyd Mayweather is moving to welter weight fighting which means that someone else will now have to tackle Alvarez.

Shields is confident in Lara’s ability to win, “Lara told me he wants to punish. These guys don’t like each other. Lara wants to knock him out, and nobody’s ever done it. It’ll be a good fight, a technical fight, but Lara will show some different things than we’ve seen before. He’s a little more angry. They both hate each other.”

Despite Shields’ confidence the bookies don’t quite agree, however, the odds on offer are very close. Odds of 10/11 are available on Trout winning the match and Lara is just behind with odds of 6/5. However, a few bookies, such as BoyleSports, have the same odds available on both fighters. All seem in agreement that a draw is very unlikely with odds of 22/1 available.
