Djokovic and Nadal Gear Up for US Open Final
On Monday the world number one Novak Djokovic will face world number two Rafael Nadal in the final of the US Open. Following his epic semi-final match Djokovic is no longer the bookies favourite to win. The best odds of him are 11/8 while the odds on Nadal are 4/6.
It is the players’ 37th match against each other, their sixth Grand Slam final and their third meeting in the US Open final.
Nadal has said it will be a “very difficult match for both of us” while Djokovic has said that trying to beat Nadal is “the biggest challenge that you can have in our sport now.” However, Djokovic went on to say, “Hard court is my most successful surface. This is where I can say I feel most comfortable and confident.
Hopefully, I can perform better than I did in the Wimbledon final and maybe get a chance to win a trophy.”
Meanwhile Nadal, who is yet to lose a hard court match this year, has said “I’m going to try my best to win on Monday. What makes the difference is the win the US Open…For me the only important thing is the US Open. That’s the most important thing.”
