Stoke City’s Cameron Jerome Fined for Betting

Stoke City will be issuing player Cameron Jerome with a warning over his future conduct after he was fined £50,000 for breaking the Football Association’s rules on betting. The player will be reminded of his responsibilities after he admitted breaching the regulations multiple times.

Stoke City’s Cameron Jerome Fined for Betting

Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing Stoke City player Cameron Jerome has been fined £50,000.

There was never a suggestion that Jerome was involved in match-fixing, nor is he believed to have placed bets on games involving his own team. Furthermore, it seems he may have breached the rules out of ignorance rather than malice.

The FA posted a statement on its website saying, “Stoke City’s Cameron Jerome has been fined £50,000, subject to any appeal, following a hearing. Jerome, who has also been warned as to his future conduct, admitted a number of breaches of the FA’s betting rules and requested a personal hearing which took place on Tuesday 13 August 2013.”

It is thought that Jerome will not appeal since he had the chance to express his own views before a panel.
