Despite the fact that Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has refused to play for the club because of their Wonga sponsorship, it appears that there are photographs of him playing at a casino.

Depsite his protests over Wonga’s sponsorship deal with Newcastle United, Papiss Cisse has been spotted gambling at a Newcastle casino.

According to some interpretations of Sharia law, it is forbidden for Muslims to benefit from borrowing money and Newcastle’s partnership with Wonga the “legal loan sharks” has upset a number of supporters.

Cisse withdrew from Newcastle’s pre-season tour to Portugal in protest to the club’s new shirt sponsor last week and it is believed that he has requested a specially tailored shirt.

However, a picture has appeared on Twitter of the Senegalese footballer at a blackjack table and it could affect his stance.

Newcastle fan Andrew McNally said that he took the photographs in Aspers Casino; McNally said that Cisse spoke about the team’s upcoming fixtures and placed bets of £10 and £20.

McNally said that “A number of fans have said that they have seen him in there. You have to say it does undermine his stance on Wonga.”

So far there has been no comment from Newcastle United Football Club.
