Tiger Woods Favourite to Win British Open
With the British Open Championship about to start, Gary Player returned to the course to reminisce about winning his first Open there in 1959.
Player said, “I came here as a young man with no money and to win this great championship and have your name on that trophy meant so much to me.
Then when I came through those gates this morning and I looked up the 18th fairway here at Muirfield and just said a little prayer of thanks and gratitude that I could have the career I have been loaned.”
The favourite to win this year is Tiger Woods with odds of 10/1 available, next up is Phil Mickelson with odds of 20/1.
Speaking about Woods Player said that it was extremely impressive to see “what he went though, great adversity, but to come back and be No. 1 in the world.”
Earlier this week Woods tried to get onto the course early for a practise round, however, he was told that tee times didn’t begin until 7 a.m. with no exceptions. However, Woods said that he “totally understand it”.
