England Focused Ahead of the Ashes
England face Australia in the first test of the Ashes and once again the bookies have England as favourite to win.
Before the start of the series England’s bowler Graeme Swann said, “I’ve been thinking about it for 18 months, to be honest, but now it’s in the forefront there’s nothing else to focus on, which is a great place to be. When I’m at home at night all I think about is Ashes cricket…”
Perhaps his focus is why the bookies have given England odds of 8/11 to win while the best odds on Australia are 5/1.
The Australians hired a new coach, Darren Lehmann, just two weeks ago and many will be watching to see if he can make any difference to the expected outcome.
He has been praised for installing a sense of fun and team spirit, however, few believe that this will be enough to make a difference.
Australia’s captain, Michael Clarke, is recently back from a lower back injury which caused him to miss the end of the India tour. He recently made a century and a half against Worcestershire, but the coaches will be trying to reduce the pressure on him.
